Our client an international award winning company established in 1989 providing Mobile Satellite Services specializing in the maritime sector. Their clients are ship owners in the USA, Russia, Cyprus, Greece, Middle East and South America.
They are currently looking to hire a Linux System Engineer to assist in the deployment, support and continued development of their Linux network management appliance.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years hands-on experience with Linux appliance systems optimizing open source applications.
- In depth knowledge of programing in Bash, Perl and PHP
- Able to configure, install, optimize and support MySQL, Apache, Open VPN, PPTPD, Squid, Bind, iptables, Rsync, dhcpd, etc.
- In depth understanding of Linux networking and protocols and services; DHCP, SSL, VPN, VLANs, ssh, TCP/IP, DNS, Samba, NFS, FTP
- Working knowledge setting up Asterisk based VoIP systems.
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex networked systems
- Experience and hands on knowledge of systems' security
- Demonstrated ability to logically and analytically troubleshoot software and to work under tight time constraints
- Working knowledge of Cent OS, Zero Shell, VMware is a PLUS.
In addition the candidate will be a team player, a mentor with a take ownership attitude, and possesses excellent time management, and communication skills.
Fluency in English is a must with Greek an advantage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintain, enhance and continue development of our Linux network appliance.
- Perform installations and configurations of systems
- Create and maintain system patches and versions.
- Monitor servers and software for performance
- Develop cutting-edge system automation tools
- Collaborating with technical team members, clients and management
- Providing technical support and problem resolution for the product
The standard working hours are from 9am - 6pm Monday - Friday.
The company is offering a salary of between 2000 - 3000 Euros gross per month based on experience plus benefits including Medical Insurance, Provident Fund.
